"Game Of Thrones" Stars Stop By S.Fla.
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – HBO's multi-Emmy award -winning drama series "Game of Thrones" kicked off its fourth season.
The show, based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R. Martin, is an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the fictional continent of Westeros , where summers and winters can last years-- and as the show puts it-- only the lust for power is eternal..
More than 255 cast names fill the roster—some of which stopped by South Florida.
British actress Gwendoline Christie plays Brienne of Tarth, the only female knight in the realm.
Christie, who joined the cast in the second season joined newcomer Pedro Pascal in Miami.
She told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo, how thankful she is to be involved in the remarkably successful show.
"So extraordinary the success of this show and its global reach is far wider than I can see. I do think this is a brilliant project," said Christie. "It's a huge pinch me moment as an actor. You hope to be in something people watch and like as well."
Pascal joined the cast for its fourth season as Oberyn Martell. He's also called the red viper. Pascal had been a huge viewer and fan of the show for three seasons before being cast. He recently watched his debut in the new season premiere.
"In seeing it, I was sort of like teetering back and forth…slipping right back into being a regular fan and being like 'Oh yeah. I'm in this episode,'" said Pascal.
Game of Thrones is not shot on a back-lot in some Hollywood studio. This series goes global.
"We shoot in Ireland, Iceland and in Croatia," said Pascal.
"And they have also shot in Malta and in Morocco," said Christie.
The battle scenes are epic and often times very graphic and bloody and those fight scenes are meticulously choreographed.
"They have a brilliant stunt department so you train with them anything from a few weeks to two months.
Game of Thrones has 10 episodes in one season and the cast looks at each season as a major motion picture with their characters developing more and more with every episode.
It's on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m.
