Gabrielle Weakens As It Moves Away From Bermuda
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Gabrielle is slowly weakening as it slowly drifts westward.
At 5 p.m., the center of the system was about 100 miles west-northwest of Bermuda. Gabrielle's maximum sustained winds had dropped to 40 mph as it moved to the west at 5 mph.
Tropical storm force winds extend about 105 miles from Gabrielle's center. There are no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
The National Hurricane Center forecast calls for Gabrielle to take a gradual turn to the north-northeast on Thursday and increase in forward speed. On Friday it will turn to the northeast and strengthen slightly.
On the forecast track, the center of Gabrielle will move remain well off-shore of the U.S. and approach Nova Scotia Friday night.
