Gables Student Reported Missing Found In New York

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- A Coral Gables Senior High School student reported missing in December has been found.
Miami-Dade Schools Police said 16-year old Samantha Delgado was found in New York. A 20-year old, Fabel Escalante, she was believed to be with has been taken into custody.
Delgado's friends said the two had been dating in secret.
The two were found after a New York Police conducted a traffic stop and found Escalante with Delgado in a stolen vehicle.
Police said Delgado is safe and being held while arrangements are made to reunite her with her family.
Delgado had last been seen at Coral Gables High School when her mother dropped her off on December 19th . Her mom said she didn't act differently than on any other day.

Days later, police issued an arrest warrant for Escalante for interference with the custody of a minor.
Family and friends believed she was with Escalante. Samantha's parents believe she did not leave with him willingly, and her cousin said he had threatened Samantha a week before her disappearance.

Police said Escalante has a criminal record of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a law enforcement officer.
