Gables Cops Arrest Trio Of Alleged Burglars After Chase

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) -- Coral Gables Police arrested suspected burglars on Friday after a chase. Friday night, police announced those men were also the suspects in another home break-in earlier in the month.
Kareem Jermaine Brown, 22, Kristopher Wooten, 19, and Devondrea Tavarres Wilcher, 24, all face burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief charges.
The first burglary took place November 5 at 6103 Riviera Drive.
Surveillance video showed the suspects beating the family pets at that residence.
Friday afternoon, a three-vehicle crash took place in Coral Gables.
The crash, police said, happened when the suspects were fleeing after burglarizing another home in the area.

Police said a supervisor en route to the scene spotted a vehicle that was speeding.
"That supervisor, still not knowing whether that vehicle is linked to that in-progress call went ahead and made a u-turn and that's when she observed that vehicle cause a major crash at this intersection," said Coral Gables Police Officer Lauren Poole.
The supervisor called 911 and rendered aid to the drivers hit and she also helped catch the suspects by telling officers which direction the suspects fled in.
"Jumped into the water and apprehended that subject, while also giving a description over the radio of the male that was seen fleeing over the golf course. That suspect was also apprehended," said Poole.
The third suspect was caught by a K9 hiding in the bushes near the crash.
While officers responded to this call, another burglary call came in.
"While we're all doing this, there's somebody else who saw somebody suspicious at a house North of here and we had officers available to respond from the station who caught that individual coming out," said Interim Coral Gables Chief of Police Ed Hudak .
After a spike in burglaries in the area recently, the chief said thanks to teamwork from police and the community four suspects are off the street.
"Because of people calling us, because of your viewers calling us, we've been able to deploy our resources and when the call comes, the officers respond," said Hudak.
