TAMPA (CBSMiami/AP) – Phoebe Jonchuck, the 5-year-old who lost her life when she was tossed from a bridge, will be laid to rest Wednesday afternoon.

The memorial service for Phoebe was set to begin Wednesday morning, with burial plans set for later in the afternoon.

Police say Phoebe died early Thursday at the hands of her father, John Jonchuck Jr., who dropped the little girl from a bridge. She was found dead hours later about a mile away.

A St. Petersburg police officer followed Jonchuck for speeding near the Sunshine Skyway bridge and saw him drop the girl into Tampa Bay. Jonchuck fled, but was later arrested and remains jailed on a first-degree murder charge.

Family members asked mourners to wear bright colors in Phoebe's memory.
