FSU's Haulstead Declared Academically Ineligible
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — The Florida State Seminoles wide receiving corps took a hit Thursday, but it wasn't anything that happened on the field.
FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher announced that backup receiver Willie Haulstead had been declared academically ineligible and is no longer on the team.
Haulstead is a senior who caught 42 passes in his college career, including 38 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns in 2010. But he missed 2011 with post-concussion symptoms and had just three catches last season.
Florida State has a deep wide receiver corps led by Rashad Greene, Kenny Shaw and Kelvin Benjamin.
Fisher also said that true freshman tight end Jeremy Kerr suffered a cartilage tear in his knee on Wednesday and will be out for an undetermined amount of time.
The Seminoles open on Labor Day at Pittsburgh.
