FSU Suspends Two Starters Before Saturday's Game
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — A violation of team rules has led to the suspension of two Florida State starters.
Linebacker Christian Jones and defensive end Eddie Goldman were suspended for one game.
Coach Jimbo Fisher said the two will miss Saturday's nonconference contest against Bethune-Cookman.
Fisher says Terrance Smith will start in place of Jones and Demonte McAllister will start on the defensive line.
The coach did not go into details of the violations, but says, "It's all correctable .... We have to abide by a certain set of guidelines."
Jones has 43 starts and 13 tackles. Goldman became a full-time starter this year.
Starting defensive end Mario Edwards, Jr. will also miss Saturday's game due to a hand injury. He has seven tackles and one for loss in 2013.
