FSU Draws Fighting Irish In Champs Sports Bowl
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – The Florida State Seminoles will renew its storied rivalry with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl.
The Fighting Irish and the Noles accepted the invite to meet in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on December 29th late Sunday night.
Both teams won eight games this season and Florida State is on the rise as the Noles are set to sign another stellar recruiting class following up last year's number one rated class.
Notre Dame struggled down the stretch this season and could have a quarterback controversy on their hands as they prepare to face the Noles' stifling defense.
The last time the Seminoles faced the Fighting Irish was in 2003 when the Noles completely dismantled the Irish 37-0 in South Bend, Ind.
Notre Dame almost ended FSU's pursuit of its first championship in 1993 when it beat then-undefeated FSU in South Bend. FSU would still go on to win the national championship that year.
The Champs Sports Bowl will take place on December 29th and is set for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff.
