FSU Coach Threw Jameis Winston Out Of Practice Before BCS Game
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston led arguably one of the top two-minute drills in college football history Monday night to capture the BCS championship. But a week before the game, Winston's two-minute drill performance got him kicked out of practice.
FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher said Tuesday he threw the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback out of the final practice before the Noles left Florida for Pasadena, California.
Fisher said he was upset with how Winston was running the two-minute drill and sent the Heisman Trophy winner to the locker room. Fisher said Winston was getting distracted at practice the week before the title game.
Winston led the top-ranked Seminoles on an 80-yard drive Monday night inside the Rose Bowl. He threw a 2-yard touchdown pass with 13 seconds left to beat No. 2 Auburn 34-31 and finish off a perfect season for Florida State.
