Friends And Family Return To Scene Of Miami Gardens Teen's Murder
MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) — There are new details surrounding a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a man outside a convenience store. Meanwhile, friends and family are remembering that man and begging for the community's help in finding his killer.
Bryant Bradshaw, the victim's cousin, said, "He was a good kid, you know what I'm saying? He was the one when I had a dirt bike he taught me how to do that catwalk and all that".
Two days after 19-year-old Daroius White's murder his cousin still chokes up with emotion. "Like, you know, I'm about to cry you know what I'm saying? Like, you know, I love my cousin," said Bradshaw.
Friends and family went back to the spot where Daroius was shot to death Saturday night. At least 14 shots were fired in the parking lot of the 207 Quick Stop Mini-Mart on N.W. 207th Street and 32nd Avenue. The chemicals used to clean down the crime scene were still there Monday night when loved ones created a memorial with flowers and balloons. One by one they lit up candles with a message that says 'we love you'.
Bradshaw said, "It's hurtful you know what I'm saying? But at the same time you have to feel joy at a certain point in time and you know we put 'we love you just' to let him know."
Daroius recently graduated from Carol City High. Tuesday, his family says, Daroius was planning to go to Miami-Dade College to start the next chapter of his life.
"And they was talking about how he was gonna start school tomorrow, trying to be a probation officer. And yeah, it hurt," said Bradshaw.
And that makes dealing with this young life cut short more difficult.
Vanessa Bradshaw, Daroius ' Godmother said, "It's just foolish, I don't understand it, it's crazy".
Daroius ' Godmother also says she remembers when he was born\ and will always remember the last time they spoke. "The very last thing he say whenever we get off the phone it's always 'I love you. I love you 'nessa, I love you 'nessa', and I tell him I love him back".
