MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Comedian Wil Shriner is known for his radio appearances in South Florida, but years ago, he was a frequent David Letterman guest.
On Tuesday, he shared some of his memories while at The Late Show With David Letterman.
"David was our generation. David reinvented the format, the same way Steve Allen which was the first tonight show host. David came along and did crazy stuff," said Shriner. "There was so many things that they did on that show...It was a big show. People would stay up late and watch Late Night.
Shriner even shared about a Bar Mitzvah held on live television.
"On the morning show, we had a Bar Mitzvah in the studio and they decided to have confetti and sparklers and had a fire on the sound stage on live TV. We had stage hands coming in with a big fire extinguisher to put it out," said Shriner.
And finally, some fond words for Letterman.
"He is truly and innovator. It's sad to see him go," said Shriner, a contributer to the Paul and Young Ron show.
There are only two shows left for the Late Show with David Letterman.
Actor Bill Murray and musical guest Bob Dylan will be part of Tuesday night's lineup.
