Frank Haith Named AP Coach Of The Year
COLUMBIA, Mo. (CBSMiami) – University of Missouri head coach Frank Haith has gone from almost being run out of town in Miami to the AP National Coach of the Year.
Haith was named the Associated Press' Coach of the Year Friday after he led the Missouri Tigers to 30 victories and the Big XII Championship in his first season as coach in Columbia.
Haith's Tigers were a number two seed in the NCAA Tournament but were ousted in the second round by Norfolk State in the tournament's biggest upset of the year.
Haith wasn't named Big XII Coach of the Year mainly because the Tigers are leaving the Big XII Conference in July to join the Southeastern Conference, or SEC.
For Hurricanes fans, it's bittersweet to see Haith go on to success at Mizzou. Haith has been embroiled in the Nevin Shapiro scandal that hit the Canes program before football season in 2011.
