FPL Fighting To Restore Power To Thousands
MIAMI — Isaac may be several hundred miles from Florida, but tens of thousands are still left without power Monday night.
The afternoon left even more without power.
As of 10 p.m., Florida Power & Light reports 14,220 customers (out of more than one million) were without power in Miami-Dade County and 13,200 customers (out of more than 800,000) in Broward.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald talked to FPL Spokesman Richard Gibbs.
"Palm fronds, believe it or not, are actually a huge cause of power outages," Gibbs said.
The state's largest utility company said it is working around the clock and will not stop until the last person has power.
Any FPL customers without power should report the outage. Call 800-4-OUTAGE (800-468-8243).
