FPL Crews Helping To Get Lights On After Killer Storm
JUNO BEACH (CBSMIami) - Power crews from across the state of Florida have begun to arrive in Ohio and Maryland to help get the lights back on and the air conditioners humming after the killer storm which struck the Northeast last week.
100 power trucks and more than 300 line crewmembers made the convoy over the weekend to help local power crews work behind cleanup crews to get lines back up and power restored, part of a mutual aid pact Florida Power and Light shares with other utilities.
In Maryland, FPL said its team of 135 people and more than 60 trucks has restored power to more than 300 customers.
In Ohio, FPL used contractors who are expected to arrive Tuesday in restoration efforts.
80workers and 40 trucks have also been sent to Virginia to help with restoration of power service, which has been out in many cases since last week.
The FPL crews are from throughout FPL's service territory, including FPL's Miami-Dade and Broward, West Palm Beach, North and West Regions.
