2nd Driver Found In Hialeah Roll Over Crash

HIALEAH (CBS4) - Hialeah Police say they have the driver responsible for causing an rollover crash that injured four women early Thursday morning.

Detective Carl Zogby says Yesney Gomez, 22, was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 on the 1700 block of West 49 Street just before 1 a.m. when it cut off a Mercedes Benz SUV.

In order to avoid hitting the car the SUV's driver, identified as 21-year old Diana Penate of Hialeah Gardens, swerved and lost control. The vehicle jumped a curb, slammed into a light pole, rolled over a bus bench and ended up overturned in the parking lot of a Wendy's restaurant.

Zogby said as the SUV rolled over two of Penate's passengers, 19-year old Anais Munoz and 22-year old Ludiet Reyes, were thrown from the vehicle. .

Hialeah Fire Captain Cesar Espinosa said a third passenger, 17-year Anay Torres who had been sitting in the front passenger seat, was able to crawl out from underneath the wreckage of the vehicle. She was taken to Palmetto General Hospital where she was listed as stable.

Espinosa said it took fire rescue workers nearly half an hour to cut Penate out the vehicle using the 'Jaws of Life'.

"The young lady that took 29 minutes to extricate was in critical condition," said Espinosa.

Penate, Munoz and Reyes were all airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center where they are listed in critical but stable condition.

Munoz is the only passenger that continues to recover from her injuries in the hospital.

None of the women were wearing seat belts,

Espinosa said the women's injuries ranged from abrasions and facial injuries to fractured bones and head injuries.

Munoz is charged with leaving the scene on an accident with serious injuries, a 3rd degree felony, and cited for improper lane change and failure to render aid in an accident.
