FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - An overnight shooting at a Deerfield Beach nightclub sent four people to the hospital.
Miya Hall said she was in the club when bullets started flying.
"Next thing you know the boy pulled out the gun and pow, pow, pow," she said.
Hall said she hit the ground watching her friend and cousin get shot in front of her.
"I was like God just please watch over me, like at this point I just heard the bullets, I seen them flash before my eyes, it could have hit me," she said.
Hall says someone punched the shooter in the face and that's when he opened fire.
When Broward sheriff's deputies arrived at Club Tropicante at 4251 N Dixie Highway just before 2:30 a.m. they found three men and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to Broward Health North with non-life threatening injuries.
Just out of the hospital Lashara Green showed CBS4 News her elbow where she was hit and other injuries.
"When I ran out of the club I was falling and stuff and fell in the glass and got like a big gash right here and I got staples right here," she said pointing to her hand. "I'm just thankful it wasn't nothing worse."
Blood stains were still on the concrete outside the club where witnesses say the shooting continued.
This was not the first time deputies have been called to the club. Last year, a deputy heard shots coming from near the club and when he went to check it out he was fired on. The deputy, who was not injured, exchanged fire with the gunman who took off. Streets around the club were shut down as the deputies conducted a search, but the gunman got away.
The City of Deerfield Beach released the following statement late Monday afternoon:
"The City of Deerfield Beach has been litigating this matter, involving Tropicante Productions, in state and federal courts for the last five years. Every final decision handed down by the courts has been in the City's favor, including the most recent decision which affirmed that Tropicante Productions has indeed, violated their Certificate of Use and should be shut down. The City intends to enforce the court's order."
