Foster Kids Getting Free School Supplies
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – While school doesn't start for a little under a month, hundreds of South Florida foster kids will be getting their school supplies this week.
The Family Resource Center of South Florida will be handing out 400 new backpacks packed with school supplies. A local organization donated the backpacks filled with paper, pencils, calculators and other supplies for the kids. This is the seventh year that the Family Resource Center has collected the backpacks.
Volunteers put the bags together Saturday and caseworkers will begin handing them out to foster kids this week.
BJ's Charitable Foundation also donated $5,000 worth of school supplies.
