Fort Lauderdale Police Searching For Suspects in Man's Death
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - Fort Lauderdale Police say a man was murdered outside an apartment complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Those close to the victim tell us he is 32-year-old Brian Wynn and that he lived in the apartment complex with his girlfriend. Crime scene markings and statements from witnesses reveal that Wynn was shot in the parking lot and staggered to a nearby staircase where he collapsed and died.
His girlfriend and others close to Wynn wept as they walked out of the apartment complex. Chelsea Davis considered Wynn her brother. She can't imagine why anyone would want to kill him.
"I'm like 110-percent sure there was no motive other than them wanting to rob him for something that he had that he worked hard for," Davis told CBS4's Carey Codd.
Chopper 4 captured the aftermath as detectives and crime scene investigators descended on the apartment building near Sunrise Boulevard and NE 4th Avenue. Investigators towed away Wynn's Cadillac, dusted nearby cars for fingerprints and even used a metal detector to search for clues. Arthur Jenkins said he had just spoken to Wynn and had plans to get together with him Tuesday afternoon.
"It's heartbreaking to me," Jenkins said. "We grew up together. We went to school together. It's like my brother."
A witness who did not want to give his name told CBS4 News that he saw two men arguing with Wynn then heard a gunshot. Another witness told CBS4 that he saw two men jump into a moving car and sped away down the street.
Those close to Brian Wynn said he was a man with a strong work ethic and a good heart who did not deserve to die. They want the people responsible caught and held accountable.
"The mother is devastated as I said," said Dorothy Terrell. "He was her only son and she wants justice to be done."
