Former UM Star Campbell Hits Pay Dirt With Cardinals
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former University of Miami Hurricanes defensive end Calais Campbell has hit the jackpot with the Arizona Cardinals.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Campbell has signed a five-year extension with the Cardinals with a maximum value of $55 milllion of which $31 million is guaranteed.
Cambpell stands 6'8" and weighs in at 300 pounds and has terrorized opposing quarterbacks for the last four years as a member of the Cardinals. Despite his size and athleticism, Campbell wasn't taken by the Cardinals until the 50th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Campbell helped solidify the Cardinals defensive line alongside first-round pick Dan Williams and former Florida State Seminole Darnell Dockett.
Last season, Campbell had 72 tackles, 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 1 interception. For his career, Campbell has pulled down 159 tackles, 21 sacks, and has 18 passes defensed.
