Former Secret Agent Pleads Guilty To Impersonating Agent
MIAMI – (CBSMiami.com) – An adjunct Broward County university professor and former U.S. Secret Service agent entered a guilty plea for impersonating a federal law enforcement officer, according to a statement the U.S. State Attorney released Friday.
Court documents say Sandra Elder identified herself to students, faculty and high-level administrators at the university as an active Special Agent of the United States.
Prosecutors say Elder had not been an agent since 2001. In addition, Elder produced fraudulent paperwork to the university stating that she was serving as a supervisory agent.
Elder will be sentenced before U.S. District Judge Kenneth A. Marra in West Palm Beach on February 10, 2012. She faces a maximum statutory term of up to three years in prison.
