Former Rothstein Associate To Be Sentenced Friday
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – A former employee of convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein hopes she'll get a lenient prison sentence due to her cooperation with investigators and low-level role in the $1.2 billion scam.
Marybeth Feiss, 43, is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on Friday afternoon. She faces a maximum of 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to a conspiracy charge involving illegal campaign contributions as a Rothstein administrative assistant.
Feiss's lawyer says in court papers that she has met numerous times with investigators to provide information about the scam. Feiss is asking for probation and community service, partly because she has a 14-year-old daughter to care for.
Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence. His scam involved investments in fake legal settlements.
