PHOENIX (CBSMiami/AP) — It didn't take long for former Miami Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia to catch on with another team.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms on a minor league contract with Saltalamacchia.
The 30-year-old catcher was released by the Marlins on Tuesday, barely into the second year of a three-year, $21 million contract.
Saltalamacchia is to report to the team's spring training facility in Scottsdale, then be sent to one of the Diamondbacks' affiliates, probably Triple-A Reno.
He is a career .240 hitter with 90 home runs and 320 RBIs with Atlanta, Texas, Boston and Miami.
But he was just 2 for 29 at the plate in nine games with the Marlins this season.
