Former FIU Star Signs With Jaguars
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami) – Former Florida International University standout safety Jonathan Cyprien is officially a wealthy man after he signed his rookie contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday.
Cyprien was a second-round pick of the Jaguars and is expected to become a starter opposite veteran safety Dwight Lowery.
The former FIU Panther was an All-Sun Belt selection in each of his four seasons at the school. By the time he finished his four years at FIU, he had 365 tackles, six forced fumbles, and seven interceptions. In his senior season, he had 93 tackles and four interceptions.
Cyprien's stock soared in the months leading up to the draft to the point that some forecasted him to be picked as early as the first round.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the team.
