MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Though it ended with another bowl loss, the Miami Hurricanes 2015 football season saw a good amount of success thanks in large part to interim head coach Larry Scott.

After starting the season 4-3 and following a 58-0 loss to Clemson, the worst ever in school history, Al Golden was fired as head coach and replaced by Scott.

Miami won four of its final five games to close out the regular season with an 8-4 record and an appearance in the Hyundai Sun Bowl, a game they lost 20-14 to Washington State.

Shortly after the regular season ended, the University of Miami hired former Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt to take over the Canes position.

Scott, who had been serving as Miami's tight ends coach under Golden since 2013, has already found his next job.

On Monday it was revealed that Scott had agreed in principle to become the new tight ends coach at the University of Tennessee, the school announced.

"I think the way Miami finished the season under [Scott's] guidance speaks volumes to his leadership skills," said Tennessee head coach Butch Jones in a statement.

Scott replaces Mark Elder, who accepted a head coaching job with Eastern Kentucky.
