Former Cane Suffers Serious Injury In Steelers Game
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Miami Hurricanes linebacker Sean Spence suffered a gruesome knee injury Thursday night while playing in the final exhibition game for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Spence was carted off the field after his leg awkwardly bent underneath him when he was blocked from the side while chasing backup Panthers quarterback Jimmy Clausen.
Spence is believed to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, torn lateral collateral ligament, and a dislocated kneecap, according to profootballtalk.com.
Spence was a third-round pick from Miami of the Steelers and was looking very good in training camp before the injury. If the reports on the injury are accurate, his 2012 season is likely over.
