Former Browns And UM Hurricanes QB Kosar Arrested
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and Miami Hurricanes was arrested for DUI Sunday morning according to a press release from the Solon, Ohio Police Department.
Bernie Kosar was reportedly pulled over on SOM Center Road just before 3 a.m.
Officers reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
The release stated Kosar posted a $500 bond and will appear in court, Tuesday.
CBS4 news partner, The Miami Herald, reached Kosar by text at 1 p.m. Sunday and he wrote back, "I am fine.'' He said he was at the Cleveland Browns game, but released no other information to the paper.
Kosar was a freshman quarterback when he led the University of Miami to the first national championship under Howard Schnellenberger in 1983. Kosar remained active with UM and is a member of the Board of Trustees, is in the UM Sports Hall of Fame and a member of UM's Ring of Honor.
He was also back-up to Dan Marino in his final years in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
