Former Astronaut Wants Her Criminal Record Sealed

ORLANDO (CBS4) - Sentenced to a year of probation in 2009 for a bizarre attack on a romantic rival at Orlando's airport, former astronaut Lisa Nowak has asked a judge to seal her criminal record.

In 2007 Nowak, a Navy captain, allegedly drove from Houston, Texas to Orlando to confront Colleen Shipman in the parking lot of Orlando International. At the time, Shipman was dating former space shuttle pilot Bill Oefelein who Nowak had once had an affair with.

Originally charged with attempted kidnapping, burglary and misdemeanor battery; she eventually pled guilty to the burglary charge was sentenced to probation and two days in jail which she had already served.

Nowak's court motion, which was filed earlier this month, requests that her record be sealed "as it is a significant hindrance to the future economic well-being of her family."
