Fmr. Private School Teacher Charged With Child Porn Possession
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A former teacher at private Miami Beach school was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of child pornography.
During a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigation back in March, investigators discovered that child pornography had been reportedly downloaded to a computer in North Bay Village.
Using the computer's Internet Protocol, they were able to determine the videos were downloaded to a computer owned by 64-year old Theodore Nusbaum, an instructor at the RASG Hebrew Academy on Pine Tree Drive.
On Tuesday, Nusbaum surrendered himself to federal authorities and charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. Bond was set at $150,000. After posting bail, he was released and allowed to leave the state so he could stay with his sister in Illinois until the trial, according to his attorney Joel Hirschhorn.
""While these matters were under investigation he was receiving treatment psychological and emotional trauma.
He is a brilliant, wise smart educated and like all of us he's flawed. Which one of us isn't," said Hirschhorn.
If convicted on all counts, Nubaum faces a possible maximum sentence of up to 50 years in prison.
