Floridians Due Share Of Skechers' Settlement
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – As a result of a $45 million multi-state settlement with footwear maker Skechers USA Inc., more than 35,000 Floridians will be getting checks in the mail.
Attorney General Pam Bondi's office announced Wednesday the $34 refund checks will be in the mail soon.
Consumers had alleged in a class-action lawsuit that the company's "toning" footwear --- Shape-ups, Tone-ups, Skechers Resistance Runner, and Shape-ups Toners --- was falsely advertised to improve posture, promote weight loss, strengthen the back, improve blood circulation, promote sleep, reduce stress, reduce physical stress on knees, legs and ankle joints, and burn calories.
Those who receive checks were required to submit claims online.
