Florida Tomatoes Recalled For Possible Salmonella Contamination
IMMOKALEE (CBS4) - Possible salmonella contamination has prompted the recall of grape tomatoes grown in Florida and shipped to several U.S. states and Canada, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Six L's Packing Company, based in Immokalee, agreed to the recall. The recall focuses on one lot of tomatoes packed on April 11 and shipped to restaurants and retail stores in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, New Jersey, New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Georgia, and Canada, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
The FDA says the possibly tainted produce is labeled as Cherry Berry tomatoes with the lot code DW-H and housed in clam shell containers or 20 pound boxes. The salmonella was discovered during a routine testing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
No illnesses have been reported.
Customers who have bought the tomatoes can return them for a full refund, or call 977-606-1821 ext. 3955 for more information.
