Florida State Retains No. 3 Spot On AP College Football Poll
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - Florida State held onto it's No. 3 spot on the Associated Press college football poll after they pounded North Carolina State 49-17 on Saturday.
No. 1 Alabama received 55 first-place votes after beating Tennessee 45-10. No. 2 Oregon got three first-place votes following a 42-14 victory against UCLA. No. 3 Florida State drew two first-place votes from the media panel. No. 4 Ohio State handed Penn State its worst loss in more than a century, 63-14.
Baylor climbed to No. 5, the best ranking for the Bears in 60 years.
Baylor beat Kansas 59-14 and moved up a spot after Missouri took its first loss. The only higher ranking for the Bears came in November 1953 when they were No. 3. Baylor lost three of its final four games that season and finished unranked.
No. 10 Missouri fell five spots after losing 27-24 to No. 14 South Carolina.
Stanford is No. 6, followed by unbeaten Miami. The Hurricanes play at Florida State on Saturday.
No. 8 is Auburn and Clemson is No. 9. No. 24 Michigan State is ranked for the first time this season and No. 25 Arizona State is back in the rankings.
Nebraska and Virginia Tech fell out after losses.
