Florida Gov. Scott Contributes $13.5M To His Senate Campaign

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) — Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott is putting his money where his mouth is as he pushes for a Senate seat.
Scott has already spent $13.5 million of his own money on his campaign to unseat three-term Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson.
The campaign finance report Scott submitted this week shows he contributed $14 million to his run. Campaign manager Jackie Sutz said Friday that breaks down to $13.5 million in cash and $500,000 for using his personal jet for campaign travel.
The report shows nearly $8 million was raised in other contributions since Scott entered the race in April. That doesn't include $3.2 million raised by Rick Scott Victory Fund, a political committee aligned with Scott.
The campaign has spent about $18 million, much of it on television ads criticizing Nelson.
Scott spent about $73 million of his family's money to win the 2010 governor's race and about another $13 million on his re-election.
