SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – The calendar has finally flipped to October, which means hockey season is just around the corner.
Fans of the Florida Panthers are excited to get the new season going and see what this ascending team can do.
After winning the Atlantic Division last year, the Panthers are viewed as one of the teams to beat in the Eastern Conference.
Opening Night is coming up on Thursday at the BB&T Center, when Florida will host the New Jersey Devils.
But before the season officially begins, the Panthers have put together a fun event for fans to gather and get pumped up for the good times ahead.
Monday afternoon there will be a Florida Panthers Pep Rally presented by the City of Fort Lauderdale.
It will take place from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Huizenga Plaza at One East Las Olas Boulevard in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The event will feature Panthers players, coaches, broadcasters and members of the front office, as well as Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler.
