Florida MERS Patient Released From Hospital
ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – Officials in Orlando released an update on the first patient in Florida to contract Middle East Respiratory Syndrome.
The person has been discharged from the hospital in Orange County and has recovered from the virus and test results now show the patient tests negative for MERS, said health officials.
Twenty healthcare workers and members of the person's household were tested for MERS and their results were all negative for the virus.

Officials with the Florida Department of Health said there is no broad risk of MERS infection for the general public, and no threat to those traveling to the Orlando area.
Two other cases of MERS were reported in the U.S., an Indiana man and an Illinois man who came into contact with him were treated for the virus.
