Florida Foreclosures Stay High In 2010
MIAMI (CBS4) - The Sunshine State continues to be among the worst states in the nation when it comes to foreclosures.
RealtyTrac released its latest survey of foreclosed properties from around the nation and Florida ranks second in the country for foreclosures.
Nationally, the number of foreclosed properties stood at 2.8 million in 2010, or roughly one in every 45 properties. It ended up being a 2 percent increase from 2009.
Statewide, there were 485,286 foreclosure filings in 2010. That translated to one in every 18 properties in the state of Florida were in some state of foreclosure.
The news was even worse in South Florida. In Miami-Dade County, the foreclosure rate was actually down from 2009, but it still left one in every 15 properties in the county under foreclosure. Miami-Dade had a total of 65,716 foreclosure filings in 2010.
Broward County saw a bigger drop-off in the number of foreclosed properties, down roughly 10 percent from 2009. But Broward still had the third highest foreclosure rate of anywhere in the state. One in every 13 properties was in foreclosure during 2010.
