Florida 42nd On List Of Best-Run States
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Florida ranked among the bottom ten states in 24/7 Wall Street's list of America's best- and worst-run states.
According to the South Florida Business Journal, the ranking criteria included unemployment rate, state debt levels, crime rates and poverty statistics.
It's easy to see how the Sunshine State rated on the low end.
Florida's unemployment rate was sixth-highest, its budget deficit was the 19th largest and the state's debt per capita ranked 10th lowest.
The median household income for Floridians was just $44,299, ranking it 14th-lowest nationally. Its percentage of households below the poverty line was 11 percent.
North Dakota was named the best-run state, while California was at the bottom.
