Fla. Woman Admits Faking Police Report Of Abduction, Sexual Assault
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (CBS4) -- A St. Petersburg woman told police she filed a false report after she went missing for three days in May.
Police say 21-year-old Samantha Ann Gilman told them she was abducted and sexually assaulted by two men. She was arrested Monday after a police talked to a man who told them Gilman willingly spent time with him at his Pinellas Park home during the time she was reported missing.
When confronted by detectives, Gilman admitted she made up the story. She said she had just wanted to spend some time away from home.
Police say they spent about 160 hours investigating the case.
Her family reported her missing when she failed to meet her brother for a concert. Her father told police he was worried because she suffers from seizures.
