Fla. Lottery Hits The Jackpot In Sales
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Lottery is striking it rich after a quarter-century of operation.
According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, the Florida Lottery hit a record sales volume of $4.45 billion this year. The record sales exceeded last year's sale by more than $440 million.
Additionally, scratch-off games like Wheel of Fortune and Monopoly also broke all-time records, according to the Herald.
Lottery officials said the record sales would send more money to Florida's suffering schools. The Florida Lottery is expecting to transfer $1.31 billion to Florida's Education Trust Fun, which is an all-time record.
All of the increased lottery sales and improvements to the Powerball have led to 22 new millionaires in Florida, according to the Herald.
