Fla. House Set To Approve Its Version Of $74 Billion Budget
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – Just days after the Florida Senate passed its budget, the House is poised to give final approval to its version of a $74 billion budget.
The Senate and House budgets differ in a few areas and those will have to be settled during a conference between the two houses of the legislature. The new budget will deal with spending from July 2013 to June 2014.
The House has proposed a six percent tuition hike in its budget, which isn't included in the Senate budget. Both houses also differ on pay raises for state workers.
The Senate proposed a three percent across the board raise for all state workers. The House offered a $1,000 a year increase plus a $400 bonus based on merit for workers.
