MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Nearly 800,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers are being recalled after malfunctions caused millions of dollars in property damage, according to a Friday announcement from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The CPSC said the Kenmore appliances can overheat, smoke, melt and catch on fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
The recall affects about 795,000 dehumidifiers sold exclusively at Sears and Kmart between 2003 and 2009.
