Fins Win May End Suck For Luck
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – It's not often that fans of a team will be torn over whether they are happy or sad when the team wins a game. But that's the dilemma facing Miami Dolphins fans after the team scored its first victory of the season.
On one hand, Dolphins fans are ecstatic after watching the team finally put all of the pieces of the puzzle together in a big way Sunday.
The Dolphins controlled every aspect of the game in its 31-3 shellacking of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Dolphins offense was the greatest revelation as the team erupted for four touchdowns in the game. The defense also kept the streaking Kansas City Chiefs from sniffing the end zone on Sunday.
On the other hand, Dolphins fans are perplexed because while a victory is nice; getting Andrew Luck would be even better.
The Fins are one of three teams currently in the Suck for Luck sweepstakes. Had the Fins lost, they would have kept pace with the Indianapolis Colts.
But, the Colts are the most inept team the National Football League has seen in several years. For Fins fans, they're worse than the 1-15 2007 Dolphins.
The Colts are likely to go 0-16 if they can't muster a win this weekend against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After that, the Colts play the Panthers, Patriots, Ravens, Titans, Texans, and finish the season on the road in Jacksonville.
So while some Dolphins fans wanted the team to Suck for Luck, the Colts have already just about locked up the number one overall pick in next year's NFL Draft.
Still, Dolphins fans now have to deal with what happens if the team can suddenly run off two or three victories in a row.
That would push them further back in the NFL Draft and could run the risk of losing out on any of the top-rated quarterbacks next year.
That's the conundrum for Dolphins fans going forward.
The Suck for Luck sweepstakes is likely over, but just how good do you want the Dolphins to do down the stretch of the NFL season.
