Fins Re-Sign G Richie Incognito
MIAMI (CBS4) - The Miami Dolphins have an enormous problem with the interior of the offensive line. Last season, the Dolphins couldn't consistently open holes and the rushing attack suffered.
So, the Dolphins waited until the very last day of the Collective Bargaining Agreement to re-sign guard Richie Incognito to a three-year contract.
According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins will likely put Incognito at the center position in 2011. This would open up both guard positions, though one will likely go to Nate Garner, who is returning from a foot injury that kept him out all year in 2010.
That means the Dolphins will be on the market for at least one guard to add into the starting lineup. One name the Dolphins may look at is Atlanta Falcons guard Harvey Dahl, who is likely to make it to free agency.
Or, the Dolphins could look to the NFL Draft to add some quality interior linemen. There's pretty much only one guard/center who could warrant a first round pick, Mike Pouncey. He's not worth a pick at number 15, however, which means the Fins will likely look to fill the position later in the draft.
There's also a small chance the Fins could be toying with the idea of drafting another tackle to man the right tackle position, and move Vernon Carey inside to guard. However, at Carey's size, it's still a mystery as to whether he could pull fast enough to really open holes for the Fins' running game.
