Fins May Lose Clemons And Soliai For Sunday's Game
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Atlanta Falcons have already lost two defensive starters and may lose another if cornerback Asante Samuel can't play Sunday. The Miami Dolphins, Atlanta's next opponent, are also facing injury issues of their own.
Starting safety Chris Clemons was held out practice Tuesday due to an undisclosed issue, according to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald. The Dolphins need all the help they can get in the secondary with Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and star receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White coming to town.
If Clemons isn't able to start for the Dolphins on Sunday, backup Jimmy Wilson, who also played nickel cornerback last week will likely get the start at safety.
The news wasn't all bad for the Dolphins in the secondary. Cornerback Dimitri Patterson and rookie corners Will Davis and Jamar Taylor were fully participating in practice this week.
In other Dolphins' injury news, defensive tackle Paul Soliai may miss Sunday's game due to a knee injury he suffered in the game against Indianapolis. If Soliai is out, the Dolphins will keep Randy Starks and Jared Odrick as the starters on the inside of the defensive line.
Luckily for the Dolphins, the Falcons' top running threat, Steven Jackson, will not play against Miami on Sunday. That should give the defensive line a bit of a rest when it comes to stopping the run. The Fins have given up 4.6 yards per carry in 2013.
