Fins Interviewing Broncos Offensive Coordinator
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins are expected to interview Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy this week for the team's head coaching position.
The Dolphins were spurned last week by Jeff Fisher who chose to go to one of the worst teams in the league instead of coming to the Dolphins.
McCoy is an offensive mind that had to completely redesign his offense in Denver after Tim Tebow was installed into the offense.
McCoy's offense still dropped to 23rd in the league in 2011 from 13th in 2010 with Kyle Orton at the helm.
The 39-year-old coach also worked for the Carolina Panthers in multiple positions for nine years.
At the same time, Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin are both considered strong candidates for the job.
Zimmer has prior ties to Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland, as the two worked together in Dallas.
Zimmer's defense improved in most years in Dallas and peaked in 2003 when the Cowboys gave up the second fewest yards in the NFL.
