Fins Interested In Pryor, But He May Not Make It To NFL
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – Former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor remains in limbo with the NFL. Pryor is seeking to be included a NFL Supplemental Draft, but so far, despite his agent's prognostications, Pryor has to sit.
But, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, if Pryor does succeed in getting a supplemental draft held; the Fins could be targeting the 6'6" quarterback project.
Pryor's problems date back to his days at Ohio State where he was one of several players who were caught selling memorabilia or trading them for tattoos. The scandal cost legendary Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel his job and Pryor went back on his word and quit the team earlier in 2011.
Pryor has the physical tools, standing 6'6" and weighs 233 pounds. He's not a polished passer, but has great skills running with the ball. His throwing motion would have to be overhauled and he'd have to learn to read coverages, which he didn't do at Ohio State.
In college, Pryor threw 56 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. He rushed for over 100 yards four times in 2010.
The NFL has been uncharacteristically mum on the subject of a supplemental draft, saying only that a supplemental draft would be held only if players qualify for the supplemental deal.
Over the weekend, ESPN's John Clayton reported Pryor would be ineligible for a supplemental draft. But, the NFL hasn't said anything on the matter of Pryor.
