Fins Have Competition In Suck For Luck
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The prevailing opinion of Miami Dolphins fans is that the team should try to lose the rest of their games in order to suck for (Andrew) Luck.
But, it's not going to be easy to continue to suck for Luck because the Fins have some serious competition for being the worst team in the NFL.
The true worst team in the NFL right now is a three-way battle between the St. Louis Rams, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Dolphins.
The Colts put on display just how bad they are Sunday night in a 62-7 beatdown by the New Orleans Saints. The Colts' struggles have made some in the media argue Peyton Manning could win the MVP award without playing a down.
Even the Colts' owner, Jim Irsay, took to Twitter last night to personally apologize for his team's putrid performance against the Saints.
But Irsay has the option of jettisoning his front office and coach at the end of the season, just like the Dolphins.
What Irsay will have to decide is if he wants to embrace losing and Suck for Luck and then make wholesale changes in the offseason.
In a cruel twist of irony, the last time a can't-miss quarterback came out of Stanford was John Elway.
The then-Baltimore Colts, helmed by Robert Irsay, had the first pick and wanted to select Elway. But Elway strong-armed the Colts and landed with the Denver Broncos instead.
For Miami Dolphins fans, they now have to hope that if a similar scenario plays out this year, maybe the Dolphins will be the ultimate winner.
