Fins Fans Say, "Give Philbin A Chance"
DORAL (CBS4) - Dolphins fans at the Doral Alehouse briefly paused their conversations to listen to new head coach Joe Philbin in his first news conference since clinching the job.
"Everybody asked me where he's coming from- I don't know," fan Leo Ferrer told CBS4's Natalia Zea.
Despite the fact that many fans haven't heard of Philbin they say they like what they're seeing.
"The Dolphins have struggled quite a bit and you need someone new and fresh that can excite the City," said Craig Ashley, "and bring in someone new with new ideas and build the team."
"I'm very excited. I think he's going to be a great asset to the organization," said Rene Parajon. Parajon knows Philbin's work well, because he's also a Packers fan. At the end of the season, Philbin was the Packers' offensive coordinator.
"I like the way he coaches, he's very focused. He obviously knows what he's doing," Parajon said.
Parajon knows a little something about coaching. He coaches peewee football.
"(It takes) A lot of patience when it comes to kids, but as long as you surround yourself with the right coaching staff, you have everybody in the right place you've got a winning recipe right there," he said.
Even though Philbin wasn't the Dolphins' first choice, fans still think he's the right choice.
"He's done good stuff in Green Bay. Just look at what their offense has done in the last 2, 3, 4 years," said fan Eric Stahura.
Parajon agrees.
"Just give him a chance and we'll see. He'll prove himself."
