Fins Claim Steve Slaton Off Waivers
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins have well documented running back issues. So, the Fins tried to address that on Wednesday by claiming former Houston Texans back Steve Slaton off waivers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Slaton has since taken to his personal Twitter account to say, "Phins Up."
He was released by the Texans this week after carrying the ball seven times for just 20 yards this season.
Slaton was a stellar rookie in 2008. He ran for 1,282 and almost five yards per carry in his rookie season. He added 50 catches for 377 yards as a rookie as well.
But since then, Slaton has struggled to stay healthy and regain his rookie form. In the last two years in the run-friendly Houston Texans offense of Gary Kubiak, Slaton has carried the ball a total of 26 times for 113 yards and no touchdowns.
Slaton will give the Dolphins another weapon in the return game as well as the backfield.
The Dolphins haven't announced if any roster moves were made to deal with Slaton's addition.
