Fins Bring QB Brock Osweiler In For Visit
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Dolphins have to find a quarterback of the future sooner rather than later and may do just that in the upcoming 2012 NFL Draft.
The latest prospect the Dolphins are doing their due diligence on is Arizona State quarterback Brock Osweiler. While not a first round pick, at least where the Dolphins are picking, the Fins could target him in the second round if they draft a defender or offensive lineman in the first round.
Osweiler announced on Twitter Monday night he was in Miami to visit with the Fins.
The former Sun Devil certainly looks the part of a big-time quarterback with an emphasis on big. He stands 6'7" and weighs 242 pounds. He's played in multiple offenses in college and in his best season in 2011 threw for 4,036 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
Osweiler could have improved his draft stock immensely had he stayed in college an extra year. As it is now, NFL scouts are divided on where the massive quarterback should be drafted with some saying he's a first-round lock while others say he is more of a third or fourth round pick.
He may be a fallback position for the Dolphins if Ryan Tannehill isn't available in the first round, as can former Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden.
