Final College Football Rankings Released
MIAMI (CBS4) - The BCS was supposed to finally settle the national champion on the field. But, at the end of the 2010 season, college football fans still are asking what if?
According to the final rankings, Auburn was rightfully selected as the national champion. The undefeated Tigers won the BCS Championship and is considered the best team in the country. Just don't tell that to TCU fans.
The Horned Frogs finished the season a perfect 13-0 and easily beat the Big Ten champion Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl. The Horned Frogs did everything they were supposed to do, yet were still left out of the national championship discussion.
Now, college football fans will enter the doldrums of the off-season wondering if TCU matched up against Auburn, could the Horned Frogs upend the Tigers.
Unfortunately, due to college presidents and their commitment to a system that fans do not like; and the NCAA's lack of action, football fans will never know.
According to the Associated Press, the top 5 teams at the end of the season were: Auburn, TCU, Oregon, Stanford, and Ohio State.
The highest-ranked teams from Florida were the Florida State Seminoles at number 17 and the University of Central Florida Golden Knights at number 21.
